This is the final post in the Tables With A Theme series.

For today's tablescape, I chose to attempt a table with a Shabby Country mood. Because there's no particular color or color combination associated with that style, I'm taking as much color out of the mix as possible ... and using sepia-tone pics instead. I'm hoping to convey a feel or mood that has nothing to do with whether or not you like a particular color. (Yes, I know brown is a color -- and that is gives a "vintage" feel ... and so it's a good place to start.)
In the center of the table I placed an old wooden box -- and a vintage creamware pitcher ...
filled with flowers.
Frilly, stately stems of gladiolus from Renaissance Man's garden ...
And tucked in beside the pitcher is an old ironstone bowl discovered while digging a flower bed at our 1907 house.
It's holding vintage wooden spools of thread ...
Around the corner on one end of the wooden box is a rooster ... and a large canning jar holding a tea light.
Tucked inside the old box is another canning jar ... and a vintage china plate ... and a beautiful old hand-sewn hankie.
Sitting atop the wooden box is a vintage creamware vase filled with Monarda blooms ...
a vintage hairpin lace doily ...
a pair of vintage brooches ... (The rhinestone flower belonged to Nannie - my maternal great-grandmother.)
an antique pocket prayer book ...
an original key to my old house ...

and a china-face doll.
The table is covered in a one-of-a-kind old coverlet ...
but the dishes ...
and flatware ... are readily available today.
The glassware, however, is vintage ...
I can already think of things I'd do differently if I were to do this table again, but do YOU think it has a Shabby Country feel?

ReplyDeleteOK, it's pretty amazing how the mood is completely set without regard to color. It looks beautiful with a homey feel to it. I got carried away enough that I forgot it was in black and white.
